S.S.R. booksPosted by librarian in SSR time, SSR books, enjoying a story |

Have you ever noticed that it can be difficult to really get into a novel if you only read it during S.S.R? I have noticed over the years that books I read only during our 15 minutes of S.S.R. time are not ranked high in my favorite books category and I wondered why.
I get frustrated that Ijust get lost in my story and then it is time to end free reading! I finally pieced it together and realized that my reading of a book is very fragmented if read only 15 minutes a day.
I have been experimenting and I discovered that when I brought the book home with me to read at night and read it during school for S.S.R., it has increased the enjoyment of the story. My theory is that I am allowing ample time to get hooked into the story and time to get to know the characters.
If you find that you aren't getting into your S.S.R. book, why not do what I did? Take your book home with you (at least on the weekends) and give it a chunk of time. Chances are you will delve deeper into the story and enjoy it more!
